My Brother Is an Only Child

“Sometimes the things we fight about are what brings us closest together.”

Accio Benassi (Elio Germano) wants to be anywhere his older brother is not. In a working-class Italian family in the 1960s, Manrico (Riccardo Scamarcio) is the handsome one everybody loves, and Accio is the sulky, hot-headed one who treats every day as a fight. Daniele Luchetti follows Accio into the fascists, a side he picks out of spite, and his shaky beliefs are still untested when he falls for Manrico's girlfriend.
