My Dearest Senorita

Adela Castro Molina (José Luis López Vázquez), a woman in her fifties who has lived quietly in a small Spanish town, learns that she is in fact a man. Her neighbors, among them Isabelita (Julieta Serrano) and the formidable Tía Chus (Lola Gaos), have known her a lifetime and have opinions ready. Jaime de Armiñán made this in 1972, under Franco, and treats a subject the country would not discuss with a plain, steady eye.
