My Dog Tulip

“Sometimes, love really is a bitch.”

Why does a solitary BBC editor in his fifties, a man who has arranged his life to need no one, bring a German Shepherd home? J.R. Ackerley (Christopher Plummer) takes in an Alsatian named Queenie, whom the book renames Tulip, and the two settle into fifteen years together. Paul and Sandra Fierlinger animate his memoir in loose pencil lines, and Ackerley comes to organize his days around the dog.
