My Family

(1995)Directed by Gregory Nava128 min · RComedy, Drama
“Three generations of dreams.”

Paco (Edward James Olmos) tells the story of a family that begins with a man who walks north from Mexico to Los Angeles in the 1930s, and a woman who is already there. Gregory Nava follows Jose and Maria's children through East L.A. in the '50s and '60s, among them Chucho (Esai Morales) and Jimmy (Jimmy Smits). Mostly the film is about the brothers, who share a house and a name and keep pulling away from each other.
