“Jeffrey Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991. This is the story before that story.”

Jeffrey Dahmer (Ross Lynch) is a quiet teenager in 1970s Ohio, shuffling through high school behind a curtain of hair while his parents' marriage comes apart at home. Marc Meyers adapts Derf Backderf's graphic novel, with Alex Wolff as Derf, one of the few classmates who ever pays Jeffrey any attention. It is a portrait of the loneliness that surrounded a boy in plain sight, and of how few people noticed it.
