My Golden Days

Paul Dédalus (Mathieu Amalric) is packing to leave Tajikistan when a question from a customs officer about his papers sends him back to his teenage years. The boy he was (Quentin Dolmaire) fights with a mother who is losing her mind, travels to the USSR, and falls for Esther (Lou Roy-Lecollinet). Arnaud Desplechin films that youth in bright, loose scenes, as though Paul were turning the pages of an album.
