My Only Sunshine

“Portrait of a lost childhood.”

In a riverside shack on the Bosphorus, Hayat (Elit İşcan) lives with her father (Erdal Beşikçioğlu) and her bedridden grandfather (Levend Yılmaz). The family gets by on her father's small boat and a run of jobs that are not always lawful. Reha Erdem films the dark water and the hard days around it with the same patient, unhurried eye.
