My Sweet Orange Tree
Zezé (João Guilherme Ávila) is eight years old, a rascal with a good heart, and what he wants most is someone who will listen. His father has been out of work a long time, money is short, and the boy confides in the sweet orange tree in the backyard. Marcos Bernstein adapts the 1968 novel by José Mauro de Vasconcelos, and when Portuga (José de Abreu) comes into Zezé's life, he directs the friendship plainly and lets it grow at the boy's own pace.
