Isabelle Perrault (Julie Delpy) is a geneticist, divorced from Thomas (Daniel Brühl) after a marriage that left her wary, and she keeps her whole life arranged around her young daughter, Zoe. When tragedy hits the family, Isabelle goes to Russia to find a fertility physician she believes can bring her child back. Delpy, directing herself, writes a mother who will cross a border and break her own profession's rules before she accepts that Zoe is gone.
