“When unbalance leads to submission”

Johnny (David Thewlis) turns up in London one night with no job and no money, and he talks at everyone he meets, sure the world is ending and happy to explain why. He drifts through the city and across the lives of Louise (Lesley Sharp) and Sophie (Katrin Cartlidge), and Mike Leigh follows him from one stranger to the next. Underneath the rants is a plain question of what a person has left to hold onto when nothing is holding him.
