At St. Hilda College, an exclusive finishing school for girls, a trunk arrives holding the body of a woman strangled in her bath by a killer in black gloves. When a student, Betty-Anne, is found strangled in the cellar, Inspector Durand starts questioning the staff, including Richard Barrett (Mark Damon), a young teacher. Antonio Margheriti lets Jill (Sally Smith), the amateur sleuth of the dormitory, and the police work the same case from opposite ends.
