Nancy Drew (Bonita Granville) is competing in a newspaper contest for high school students when she grabs a real assignment meant for someone else: a woman has been poisoned. A young woman stands accused, and Nancy is sure she didn't do it, so she drags Ted Nickerson (Frankie Thomas) into hunting for the one piece of evidence that might clear her. William Clemens keeps it brisk and light, a story about a girl who won't take the official version of things on trust.
