In the village of Mullankolli, an orphan named Velayudhan (Mohanlal) has no home of his own and keeps the place in order anyway, by a code of conduct everyone there knows. The people love him for it, and the local moneylender and the politician, who need the village to stay unruly, resent every day he stays. Joshiy builds the story around Velayudhan, a tough, sincere man who answers to no one.
