Nashville

“The damndest thing you ever saw.”

Five days before a gala concert for a presidential candidate from the Replacement Party, Nashville fills with country singers, gospel choirs, a reporter, a waitress and a few hopefuls who just want a way in. Barbara Jean (Ronee Blakley) is the town's reigning star, and Connie White (Karen Black) waits close behind her. Robert Altman lets twenty-four stories overlap in the same crowded rooms, with the dialogue talking over itself like people do.
