A routine traffic stop in Los Angeles goes badly wrong, and it leaves Earl Montgomery (Martin Lawrence), a loud police academy reject, and Hank Rafferty (Steve Zahn), a quiet cop who has lost his badge, on opposite sides of a fight neither can walk away from. Months later both are working as security guards, sent after a smuggling operation. Dennis Dugan shoots around Long Beach and Santa Clarita with the speed of a chase and the timing of a stand-up set.
