Eve Barrett (Esther Williams) is the sensible older sister, the one who looks after Betty (Betty Garrett) and worries her scatterbrained heart will get her hurt. Betty has mistaken the masseur Jack Spratt (Red Skelton) for Jose O'Rourke, captain of the South American polo team, and Jack goes along with it. Edward Buzzell sets the sisters up as opposites, and Eve's attempt to protect Betty ends up pulling her toward the real O'Rourke (Ricardo Montalban).
