Nevada Smith

(1966)Directed by Henry Hathaway128 minWestern
“Some called him savage- and some called him saint... some felt his hate- and one found his love... and three had to die...”

Three men killed Max Sand's parents over gold, and the young man who rides out after them has taken the name Nevada Smith. The son of an Indian mother and an American father, Max (Steve McQueen) is taught to shoot by a gun merchant, Jonas Cord (Brian Keith), who insists it be done on time and done right. Henry Hathaway sends him after Tom Fitch (Karl Malden) and Bill Bowdre (Arthur Kennedy), a boy with one purpose and no experience of what it asks of him.
