Carol Williams (Sally Forrest) has just gotten engaged to Guy Richards (Keefe Brasselle), her partner and choreographer, and the two are preparing for a career-making run of dates. Then comes the diagnosis: polio, and a body that no longer does what she tells it. Ida Lupino follows Carol into the long, quiet work of a rehabilitation ward, where a dancer who lived by her legs has to learn what she is without them.
