Nobody in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, can explain why a girl from New York City would end up living in the house next door. Moonie Pottie (Liane Balaban), a gifted teenager who dreams of a life beyond the town, can't stop watching Lou Benzoa (Tara Spencer-Nairn), who turns out to have a talent for boxing. Allan Moyle follows Moonie as she makes Lou her muscle, hoping a few hard punches will change her hometown and her chance of leaving it.
