“One city. Three stories tall.”

New York Stories (1989) gathers three short films set in Manhattan, each from a different director. Martin Scorsese follows the painter Lionel Dobie (Nick Nolte), who pours his heartbreak over his assistant Paulette (Rosanna Arquette) onto the canvas. Coppola's piece is about a lonely twelve-year-old in a hotel, and Woody Allen's has a lawyer whose domineering mother (Mae Questel) will not leave him alone.
