Night at the Crossroads

A Dutch diamond dealer is found dead in a stolen car, and the car turns out to belong to an insurance agent named Michonnet. It has been left in the garage of Carl Andersen (Georges Koudria), where Commissaire Maigret (Pierre Renoir) comes asking questions. Jean Renoir, directing his own brother in the part, keeps the camera at a patient distance and lets the dread build slowly.
