'night, Mother

On a Saturday night in a house on a quiet country road, Thelma Cates (Anne Bancroft) is settling in when her grown daughter Jessie (Sissy Spacek) calmly tells her she will kill herself before morning. Tom Moore keeps nearly every scene inside the one house. The hours that follow are spent on ordinary things, and the film treats how much a mother and daughter have never said as the thing that has to be settled before dawn.
