Nine Days of One Year

Dmitri Gusev (Aleksey Batalov) runs experiments in a Soviet nuclear laboratory, and he keeps going back to them after the radiation has started to mark him. His friend Ilya Kulikov (Innokentiy Smoktunovskiy) works beside him, and both men love Lyolya (Tatyana Lavrova), a woman who will not be managed. Mikhail Romm shot it in black and white, and Dmitri is the one we watch, a man weighing his body against his work.
