“Do You Really Know Your Neighbors?”

In 1957, a new housing development in southern California fills with young couples who bought their houses with no money down. Four of those marriages, among them Jerry (Tony Randall) and Isabelle Flagg (Sheree North) and Troy (Cameron Mitchell) and Leola Boone (Joanne Woodward), grow tangled together as each household's troubles spill over the fence. Martin Ritt works the whole cast like one neighborhood, moving between the houses without settling on a single hero.
