No Man of Her Own
After a train crash, a penniless, pregnant woman is mistaken for the wealthy Helen Ferguson, who died beside her, and she does not correct anyone. Taken in by the dead woman's in-laws, she lives under that name with Bill Harkness (John Lund) and his mother (Jane Cowl), and Barbara Stanwyck plays her. Mitchell Leisen, adapting Cornell Woolrich's novel, keeps the camera close on Stanwyck's face while the lie sits in every room.
