“Would you kill for a job?”

Man-su (Lee Byung-hun) has spent years as a manager at a paper mill, and then the company lets him go. He sends out applications, sits through interviews, and gets nowhere, while Mi-ri (Son Ye-jin) and the household around him wait on his next move. Park Chan-wook adapts Donald Westlake's novel The Ax, and Man-su decides the other applicants for the job he wants are the problem he can fix.
