Kate (Catherine Zeta-Jones) wants her kitchen run exactly her way, and as head chef she makes sure it is. Then she becomes the guardian of her young niece Zoe (Abigail Breslin) and hires a brash new sous-chef, Nick (Aaron Eckhart), who treats her rules as suggestions. Scott Hicks sets all of it in her restaurant, where Kate stands at the pass in her whites, and the plates keep coming.
