No Strings Attached

“Friendship has its benefits.”

In Los Angeles, Emma Kurtzman (Natalie Portman) is a doctor on punishing hospital shifts who has no time for a boyfriend. She proposes one rule to her friend Adam Franklin (Ashton Kutcher): they sleep together, and nobody gets attached. Ivan Reitman builds the comedy on a plain question, whether wanting someone's company can ever stay separate from wanting the person.
