Nobody Knows

“Did mom really abandon us?”

Twelve-year-old Akira (Yuya Yagira) wants to keep his younger brother and sisters together in a small Tokyo apartment after their mother leaves and gives no sign of coming back. Hirokazu Kore-eda follows the four of them as the household becomes his to run, with Kyoko (Ayu Kitaura), Shigeru, Yuki and Saki all looking to him. No one outside the apartment knows the children are there, and Akira is the only person they have.
