“HOLLYWOOD GLAMOR MURDER!”
Composer Keith Vincent, a womanizer in 1940s Los Angeles, is found dead, and the inquest calls it a suicide. Detective Joe Warne (George Raft) doesn't buy it, and he keeps pulling at the case after the department has moved on. Edwin L. Marin's film follows him through the women in Vincent's life, among them Frances Ransom (Lynn Bari), and Warne stays on it past the point where anyone is paying him to.
