Nomadland

“See you down the road.”

After her husband's death and the collapse of her town's economy, Fern (Frances McDormand) packs a van and drifts across America. She takes seasonal work in warehouses and campgrounds, meeting other drifters living the same marginal life: Dave (David Strathairn), Linda (Linda May), and Swankie (Swankie). Zhao shoots the open road and the faces of people who have learned to want very little, and Fern moves through it all with quiet resolve.
