Nomadland

“See you down the road.”

After the Great Recession, a company town in Nevada empties out, and Fern (Frances McDormand), a widow in her sixties, loads what she has left into a van and drives into the western states. Chloé Zhao fills the film with real nomads, Linda May and Swankie among them, who play versions of themselves. Fern takes seasonal work and parks where she can, and she turns down every offer of a more settled life.
