North Dallas Forty

(1979)Directed by Ted Kotcheff119 min · RComedy, Drama
“Wait till you see the weird part.”

Phillip Elliott (Nick Nolte) is a wide receiver for the North Dallas Bulls, a veteran who gets through each week on painkillers and a body that hurts more every Monday. Ted Kotcheff sets the locker rooms and the sideline under Coach Johnson (Charles Durning) in the late 1970s, a world where the game is business. What holds Phillip together is his friendship with quarterback Seth Maxwell (Mac Davis), the one teammate he can joke with when everything else hurts.
