North Hollywood

“Your board. Your rules.”

Michael (Ryder McLaughlin) spends his days on a board in North Hollywood, skating with his friends while his father Oliver (Vince Vaughn) pushes him toward a steadier future. Mikey Alfred, who drew the story loosely from his own life, builds the film around that standoff between father and son. It comes down to a simple question of whether a kid gets to pick his own life or inherits the one laid out for him.
