Northern Soul

In 1974, John Clark (Elliot J. Langridge), a teenager in Lancashire, gets pulled onto a dance floor by his friend Matt (Josh Whitehouse) and hears African-American soul records he never knew existed. From there the two boys give themselves over to a scene built on rare American singles and dancing. Elaine Constantine shoots it in grainy, close-up footage, with the dancers' feet and spinning bodies filling the frame.
