Nothing Left to Do But Cry

Mario (Massimo Troisi) and Saverio (Roberto Benigni), two friends from the present day, find themselves in the year 1492 with no explanation for how they got there. They meet Pia (Amanda Sandrelli), a charming teenager, and set about trying to change the course of history. Troisi and Benigni wrote and directed it together, and the film rests on the two of them, a pair who bicker, scheme and stick by each other even while everything around them is centuries wrong.
