“Can the most famous film star in the world fall for the man on the street?”

William Thacker (Hugh Grant) runs a small travel bookshop in Notting Hill, and his days are quiet, a little shabby, and shared with his flatmate Spike (Rhys Ifans). Then Anna Scott (Julia Roberts), one of the most famous actresses in the world, walks in to browse. Roger Michell sets her against William's ordinary London: the shop, the crowded flat, and a bookseller's mild face.
