Now and Forever

Toni Day (Carole Lombard) wants a home and a family, and her husband Jerry (Gary Cooper) wants to keep drifting and swindling his way from one town to the next. Henry Hathaway follows the marriage as it strains, until the couple track down Jerry's young daughter Pennie (Shirley Temple), who has been living with his late wife's wealthy family. Pennie sits between her father and Toni, small and watchful, and sings "The World Owes Me a Living."
