Nowhere in Africa

“One family's tale of a homeland lost... and a homeland found.”

Why would a woman cross an ocean to a Kenyan farm with a set of china dishes and an evening gown packed for the journey? Jettel Redlich (Juliane Köhler) has fled Nazi Germany in 1938 with her daughter Regina (Lea Kurka) to join her husband Walter (Merab Ninidze), and she will not adjust to any of it. Caroline Link follows the family as Regina takes to the land and to Owuor (Sidede Onyulo), the cook, while Jettel stands among the china and the gown.
