Number Seventeen

(1932)Directed by Alfred Hitchcock63 minThriller, Mystery, Crime
“A great play. A great novel. And a greater film.”

Ben (Leon M. Lion), a tramp who has wandered into an abandoned house at Number Seventeen, finds the place less empty than it looks. A gang of jewel thieves has made it their hideout after a robbery, and a detective is somewhere among them in disguise. Hitchcock keeps the house and the railway line it sits over in his frame, while Ben, still the most ordinary man in it, tries to get out in one piece.
