“She's chasing a dream... they're chasing her.”

Betty (Renée Zellweger), a waitress in Fair Oaks, Kansas, watches her husband die in a brutal killing, then walks out of her house convinced she is a nurse engaged to Dr. David Ravell (Greg Kinnear), the doctor from her favorite soap opera. Neil LaBute follows her west to Los Angeles, with the two hitmen, Charlie (Morgan Freeman) and Wesley (Chris Rock), trailing behind. If they catch her, she is the one loose end.
