Why would a man walk up to the home of someone he killed and knock on the door? Hong Jong-du (Sul Kyung-gu), freshly out of prison after two and a half years for a drunk-driving death, goes to the victim's family and meets the daughter, Han Gong-ju (Moon So-ri), who has severe cerebral palsy. Lee Chang-dong films the two of them close, with the people around them watching from the doorway.
