Oblomov

In mid-nineteenth-century St. Petersburg, Ilya Ilyich Oblomov (Oleg Tabakov) lies in his flat most of the day, attended by his aging servant Zakhar (Andrei Popov) and dreaming of the family estate he knew as a boy. His energetic friend Stoltz (Yuri Bogatyryov) brings him to Olga (Yelena Solovey), who decides to rouse him. Nikita Mikhalkov plays the comedy of his idleness against the slow ache of those remembered childhood summers.
