Obsession

A stranger walks into a roadside inn, and within days the owner's marriage has a crack running through it. Gino Costa (Massimo Girotti) is hired on, and Giovanna Bragana (Clara Calamai), the owner's wife, takes him as her lover while they talk of getting rid of her older husband. Luchino Visconti, in his first film, sets the affair against a flat, dusty road, with Gino's few belongings and Giovanna's marriage both worn thin.
