“The secret life of girls... it's not pretty.”

Vanessa (Alexa PenaVega) is shut out by the girls she eats lunch with, and the freezing-out takes hold quickly. Her mother Barbare (Lisa Vidal) sees her daughter pulling away and tries to find out what is going on inside her school. Tom McLoughlin, adapting Rachel Simmons's book on aggression among girls, keeps the cruelty in small, ordinary exchanges, the kind that happen at lockers and cafeteria tables.
