“Being a cop is tough. But in Saigon, 1968, being a cop is crazy.”

Buck McGriff (Willem Dafoe) is a plainclothes military policeman in wartime Saigon, working a beat nobody in the Army wants. Partnered with Albaby Perkins (Gregory Hines), he starts looking into the killings of local prostitutes, and the trail runs toward a high-ranking Army officer. Christopher Crowe sets the case in the city's off-limits district, and McGriff keeps pushing even as the people he answers to turn against him.
