Oliver!

“Much much more than a musical!”

Oliver (Mark Lester) is a workhouse orphan who dares to ask for more gruel, and he is sold off and finally runs away to London. There he falls in with the Artful Dodger and a gang of boys trained as pickpockets by Fagin (Ron Moody), a cheerful old thief who calls the work a trade. Carol Reed stages the street numbers with big crowds and dozens of dancers, so the songs fill the frame the way they would fill a theatre.
