On Becoming a Guinea Fowl

Driving home through the dark, Shula (Susan Chardy) finds her uncle's body lying on an empty road in the middle of the night. By the time the funeral gathers her middle-class Zambian family, she and her cousins, including Nsansa (Elizabeth Chisela), have begun to expose what the relatives have long kept quiet. Rungano Nyoni shows how a family can mourn loudly together while the worst things stay unspoken.
