A tall stranger in a dark coat turns up at a small-town house to collect an old man, and the old man has other plans. Julian Northrup (Lionel Barrymore), called Gramps, is raising his orphaned grandson Pud (Bobs Watson) and won't leave while a relative circles the boy. Harold S. Bucquet keeps nearly all of it around one house and one apple tree, so the film plays like a stage piece.
