“From Telly Laughs To Belly Laughs!”

Stan Butler (Reg Varney) drives a bus and wants his overtime to keep covering the hire purchase payments his mum (Doris Hare) and sister keep adding to the household. His job feels safe, since bus drivers are hard to come by, until the company drops its long-standing rule against hiring women. Harry Booth directs this big-screen outing for the sitcom crowd, with Inspector Blakey (Stephen Lewis) still watching the clock, and Stan is left to protect his wage packet.
