On the Town

(1949)Directed by Stanley Donen, Gene Kelly98 minComedy, Romance
“They Paint The Town With Joy!”

Gabey (Gene Kelly) and his shipmate Chip (Frank Sinatra) step off the ship with exactly twenty-four hours of leave and a plan to find love somewhere in New York City. Ozzie (Jules Munshin) is with them, and Betty Garrett and Ann Miller play two of the women they run into along the way. Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, co-directing, took the cameras out of the studio and into the real streets, where the dancing happens on location.
